Terrier man 38
Have to agree with poacherspocket22 . Its a serious running dog but wouldnt be worth it in the uk never mind mentioning ireland even smaller fields again dog would need a run way to open up the gears. What i do have to pull you up on poacher is that you said it didnt quicken? Sure how do we know from the video what distance a slip that dog got on the quarry? More then likely over 100 yards as they ar very easily spooked and have outstanding vision so was most propably the dog was droped from one of the jeeps and the quarry was already on the move as it was only a single run or could have bein from a single slip either way it had a serious amount of ground to cover. The dog will not quicken anyway as it is running full stretch and on that sort of land its going to be running as fast as it will anyway this is where the stamina comes into account and where the quarry is run till a point where it cant outrun whats behind it. runningdog01 3
good stamina but cant see it pulling to a fen hare let alone put a bend in it, still could make a good cross like you said Quote Link to post

Huntmad 1
dont get me rong its an amazin dog but personally i don think its for this country clearly its a straight liner and [bANNED TEXT] have you ever seen anythin over here run in a strait line. like i said its an amazin dog but if you look at our breeds over here to me their the best dogs out there they have a few hundred yards if your lucky to catch wat ever its runnin on from start to finish their giving it everythin and thinkin of the next move of the quary . thier the dogs for me Quote Link to post
wullielennox 158
you could buy a top class dog for the price to import 1 a them saluki's over here,,they are plenty english lads way best of bred dogs way speed and stamina to do the job,so why import one yourself,,not unless you wish to have your own breed of dog, but saluki x greyhounds plenty 1st xs about, but dont suit everyones needs... dogs-n-natives 1,182
Why do you think we use the saluki so much in breeding the BEST hare dogs going?? And not just hare dogs.... check out some of the other desert coursing ont web.... some is crap, but there are some awesome courses esp the gazelle's, however be prepared for half a dozen dogs, and a dozen or more vehicles, even so, some courses are several minutes even as long as 10 mins which seems incredible to me for a dog in a red hot desert going that fast.... I love saluki's Quote Link to post
Huntmad 1
personally i dont think they are the best hare dog but people beg to differ as everyone loves their paticilar breed but if salukis are that good why cross them Quote Link to post
