fireman 11,003
Went out today to do a bit of retrieving with my acdx and a mates dog,the day was going well with game spotted almost straight away and the dogs went of to retieve. They went through a reed bed and out of sight when i heard a yelp,my heart sank when my bitch came out with a totaly shattered for leg with bone sticking out of the skin.I picked her up and had to carry her a mile or so across marsh and got her to the nearest vets,to cut a long and hard to cope with storey i had to have her pts due to the break rendering her to be crippled for the rest of her life if not 3 legged. She was the sort of dog who would never had coped with being left at home and would never have made a pet as she was a natural grafter and a dog who's left a massive void in my life now,rip Lula and thanks for the grand times we had together. bird 9,985
bad luck mate, its a feckin hard life with these working dogs . I had to do it once with a young dog, they love to be out with you, not stuck in the house or kennel bored out of there minds. Not so bad with a old dog, but not a young dog. You done the right thing. Quote Link to post
