max abell 196 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Share Posted September 29, 2009 Hi all We are in the process of makeing up 2 x 50yd longnets and want to sow the bagging in evenly along the top line what cotton do you use is it normal household or the strong type like what fishing rod eyes are put on with ie (whipping) ? and how many times do you have to sow it through the top line Or is there another way of connecting it to the top line YOUR IDEAS WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED THANKS Quote Link to post

A few tips that may help. If your net is 4" sew 36 meshes every 6' When setting the net use the sewn in line as a footline. When used this way there is not a lot of differance between a sewn in net and a free running net. TC sounds like sound advice their.. a bit like rigging bass nets. i use flytyeing thread when ime setting the bag on my nets it realy does help with dropping and picking them up and when the wind is quatering too Quote Link to post

TC Thanks for the advice tiercel tried that knot on a old peice of 2mm top cord i had i used polyester for the actual knot and it worked brilliant even tried to slide it along the top line with a pair of pliers and it wearnt budging thanks very much the thought of sewing it on with a needle i wasnt looking forward to at all Quote Link to post
