Who are we trying to kid here guys.... There are laws that state minors should be under adult supervision.

Common sense prevails that you don't leave any sort of weapon in a place where those who aren't authorised to use it can get their hands on it.

I have 10 year old and 7 year old daughters and although they know NEVER to touch my rifle (even in the gunslip) I always ensure it's locked away in my wardrobe the time it's not being used.

So if anything as such were to happen myself as the gun owner would be the only one to blame.

the kids can't be called stupid...........its down to the parents to educate them.

its a very sad outcome

perhaps its time for some kind of licencing ?????

atb

sean

Licencing isn't the answer Sean.

Firearms and shotguns are licenced and there's tons more illegally out there than ever before.

Education is what is needed in all schools & colleges about the correct use of guns.

ALL GUNS i.e. BB, paintball, air, shotgun, firearms and even slingshots.

Not just talking about the kids either,

Parents need to be educated FIRST AND FOREMOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it time for one of the big tv chanels to start to promote safe gun handling/use? Programmes - an extension of 'Countyrfile' type that actually show shooting sports of all kind and give advice on safety as well as humane shooting. People may start to see the air gun as a danger if they see it being used, it may get away from the pop gun type idea that some have of the airgun??

fairly sure in this day and age none of the big chanels would even consider it but an interesting discussion point. A lot of bad press re. airguns but no positive messages on their use in pest control or target scene.

I'd say your life was pretty safe there, migmog.

I'm rather older than you, and I get considerable pleasure shredding cans in the back garden with the PCP.

Love the way WBF calls people only 3 years younger than him 'kids', as if he isn't.

Hes just old enough to whipe his own arse and hes trying to put the world to rights :11:

I'm just mature enoguh to put the world right, unlike some. Migmog, you started turning this topic into an argument. So to tell you the truth mate, who is the more mature one out of us two? This topic was to shed light in the laws and what people opinions are of this matter. You know what the saying is don't you Migmog, nothing nice to say....Then don't say nothing at all.

I didn't state that shooting tin cans is irresponsible. What i was trying to get accross is the fact that how the hell could the lad have two pellets in him? Unless someone was being irresponsible....

No you weren't

No-one had speculated that the lad that was shot was shot twice when you made your statement.

Another tragic accident my thoughts go out to his family.I carnt see the licensing of airguns becomeing law due to the fact the amount of VAT the goverment must collect on the sale of air weapons and their components.atb dell

I think they will collect considerably more when they start taking licence fees and collecting vat on the gun cabinets that will be required not to mention the resale of the confiscated guns at auction that have been taken off the poor buggers that cant get a Fire arms certificate
