Wanna be farmer 0
If he was hit twice then it probably wasn't an accident! I am starting to think now that air rifles should be for certificate holders only.
migmog 1
A few weeks back i nearly took a 22 bullet in the head shooting at pennys blutacked to a fence post, we where taking it in turns to shoot the pennys a mate fired the gun and the bullet bounced of the penny and whized right past my head only feet away. The bloke who owned the rifle was about 75 & the other 2 blokes are in there 50's im 40 so it goes to show its not only kids that can be irresponsible . And im having none of it that everybody hasnt done somthing silly at least once or more before. Boys and toy's comes to mind for me !! And before some smart arse comes out with guns arnt toy i do know. The point im making is most people like to think there practicly perfect in everyway on this site ,theres to many marry popins wanna be's here. Like i said boys and toys, and boys will be boys and accidents happen !!

Like i said boys and toys, and boys will be boys and accidents happen !! I don't think i'm perfect in anyway. I have shot tin cans before. I'm no way perfect, but my parents care about me alot more then to leave a airgun in the shed when i was those two lads age. Anyway, an air rifle shouldn't be left in a shed for many reasons. But none of us are perfect.
Night Hunter 109
You can bet your boots that ALL airguns will be required to be on a Firearms Certificate in the very near future after this incident and people that have airguns who can not legally get a Firearms Certificate will have to hand them over to police. migmog 1
Exactly, they were shooting cans with it i think. Stupid kids, and stupid parents for letting them. Stupid kids eh ? droid 11
I'd say your life was pretty safe there, migmog. I'm rather older than you, and I get considerable pleasure shredding cans in the back garden with the PCP. Love the way WBF calls people only 3 years younger than him 'kids', as if he isn't. poacher3161 1,766
Another tragic accident my thoughts go out to his family.I carnt see the licensing of airguns becomeing law due to the fact the amount of VAT the goverment must collect on the sale of air weapons and their components.atb dell
air gunner 0
I believe the problem is that this generation of kids parents had airguns as children the air guns they used however had no where near the 12ftlbs power of todays rifles. this being the case the parents believe them to be toys still and dont worry that the power may be different. The amount of times people have been suprised when i say i can hunt with an air rifle at 35yrds is astonishing most believe them only to be useful at 15 or so yards. Teach the importance of air rifles to everyone using adverts etc. A licence would not sort the problem as blackmarket firearms are still in circulation and if you have the will you can get whatever you want. Trigger locks would be a good idea. but cabinets are expensive and air gunners choose airguns becasue they are relitivly cheap and dont require expensive storage. dog fox 16
when i was 15 i was putting a tin can on a fence post for a mate to shoot at ,yes you geused i took a 22 pellet straight in the back of my head ,was out cold for about 10 mins .woke up to see everyone leaning over me with faces like they had all totaly shit there pants. the back of my head was like a volcano and took a few days to stop bleeding .i never told my mum at the time cause i would have lost my gun . the pellet is still in there to this day and ive never been right since  its only now i think back on how dangerous that day was and how lucky i was and it could have ended totaly different . i think they should put some sort of liscence on them as it would be licsenced to a certain person who would be responsable for the rifle and there for take more care with them . its never put me off guns ive shot all my life with different types of guns but learnt a good lesson that day always take care when handling any gun Edited September 29, 2009 by dog fox
migmog 1
Personaly i think and i also think i vouch for other responsible air weapon enthusiasts that new regulations should be made, like all air weapons should be locked in gun cabinets along with ammo. A simple law like this could save lives. I dont think this tradgerdy is downt to irrisponsible children because children are children & they dont see potentialy dangerouse situations as the older generation do. To children its just a bit of excitment & fun as all of us should rember our selves. This accident is down to pure ignorance of the danger that air rifles pose to young innocent children and as a direct result of pure ignorance it has cost this young innocent child to be taken from his family at such an early age, my heart goes out to his greaving family !! Let hope the law is tightend and better regulations are brought in sooner rather than any later. ATB all migmog.

migmog 1
Exactly, they were shooting cans with it i think. Stupid kids, and stupid parents for letting them. remember your only a kid yourself, boys will be boys and accidents happen,my thoughts go the wee mans family, rip I am only 15 myself but i am educated enough to know gun safety, and yes, i have shot at a tin can before, but a riccochet off of a tin can is very unlikely to kill someone. The adults should have been supervising them. Your only just old enough to be whiping your own arse son not running around giving pearents advice and putting the world to righs! Go and whipe your nose lad!
