Wanna be farmer 0
Suprise suprise, another child has been severly injured whilst playing with an air rifle. It was either he's been severly injured or died, i didn't here it properly. It was on Sky News. It won't be soon untill air rifles are for certificut holders only soon. The parents should have been supervising them if the kids didn't know gun safety.

Stupid kids, and stupid parents for letting them. remember your only a kid yourself, boys will be boys and accidents happen,my thoughts go the wee mans family, rip I am only 15 myself but i am educated enough to know gun safety, and yes, i have shot at a tin can before, but a riccochet off of a tin can is very unlikely to kill someone. The adults should have been supervising them.

Guns should be locked up if there are young around.
Fieldsports 155
OK I am going to throw the spanner in the works. Some one will or at least be thinking it by now. Should air rifles be included in the firearms licensing system ? And should any potential owner of a air gun be vetted and made to be licensed under the firearms licensing system ? I mean regardless of the limit of 12ft.lbs muzzle energy for rifles. Do you think that a vetting system similar to what you have to go through for a firearms above "12ft.lbs muzzle energy" would be an advantage and maybe assist to stop isolated incidents like this. Its easy to say we as the hunting community is responsible ( and most of us are ). But un-vetted over counter sales is available for anyone who wants to buy these weapons. The bloke next door can buy one of these to shoot cans and stand it in the corner of his house and then his kids can get it to play with. Just posted to see your overall opinion on this subject. BEARINATOR 2,867
Maybe not licensing them, but as Sean3513 said keep them in a secure cabinet or a trigger lock. Edited September 28, 2009 by BEARINATOR

Steve steve, i personally think there should be a relaxed form of FAC for sub 12 ft/lb air rifles. if they came under the same regulation as normal FAC everyone would have them wound up to silly ft/lbs , resulting in more dangerous rifles. the minimum should be a cabinet or trigger lock as i have previously said. as always, guns dont kill people, people kill people !!!!! the problem arises when you condider how many unlicenced air guns that are out there.......its a difficult one to deal with, but, somthing needs to be done ?? cheers sean
