If you fit an extension tube to a semi auto to convert it from a 5 shot to an 8 shot do you always need to change the spring aswell?

Not an expert but I'm certain you would have to remove a spacer rather than add a bit. Don't know how sneaky the PTB have been, but it may be simple or hard, I suggest simple, but don't get caught.

ive got an Fac shotgun without a restriction on capacity so its not a problem legal wise, its just a bit of tube that screws on the end, im just wondering if it is more likley to cause stoppages without having a longer spring? the current one seems long enough but i want to avoid having stoppages unnecessarly and wonder if a longer spring is the norm?

Sounds to me like a word with the manufacturer, importer or good gunsmith is the best answer!
