What rifle fo a new FAC holder?

Recommended Posts

Hello mate,

you have been a member of this site for a whole blooming year, have a look at some of the older posts, do a search, use a bit of common.................

Buy an Anschutz like mine, cant go wrong, buy the Zeiss sight and all the other bits, guaranteed DIVORCE, but it does shoot straight!

If I started again I would apply for,

.22 lr (very quiet)

.223 cf (fox and long range bunny)

Mods for both

Make sure you apply for the shot gun at the same time....I really regret not doing this!

I feel the 223 would suit me better than the hmr/wmr as it will startlle a horse the same but is further reaching and flater.

Just my thoughts and regrets

around £200-£300 pounds for a set up .22lr depending on make and optics( can of course be much more).

as for divorce: if you have a new rifle and good land, why would you want your wife anyway :)

take a look at the previous posts on this subject, must be 3 or 4 threads in the last couple of weeks.

if you can get a full set up for £200-300 you'll be laughing. and i'll be crying. the rifle alone cost £350 for me in .17hmr and i spent alot of time looking for the cheapest deal. it turned out that at the time my local dealer had the cheapest deal which was very convenient. my whole set-up cost me £750 give or take a few

Sorry Mate but this is a very naive post :o;)

1st thing 1st, decide what you want to shoot, then decide if rifle or shotgun, then if rimfire or centre fire, or of cousrse which shotgun.

I trully believe every shooter should have to have rimfire experience before they were allowed any centrefire, for the greater good of all of us ;)

I have decided on a .22 LR for a little rabbit shooting firstly. A shotgun over an under 12 gauge in a few months.

I am going to give the clay pigeon shooting a try.

Any ideas for a beginners set-up for both?

I am trying to keep the price down. Approx £200 per gun?

Open to ideas...... Thanks

he wants a rimfire rifle for rabbit shooting. sorted. however cyclone i do agree with you in that he should clue himself up on ballistics and know all there is to know for when he has the interview.

when i first applied for mine i spent a number of months reading up on rimfire calibres and learning all i could to ensure i had no problems when it came to my application

Hi mate. Try and find somebody with a rimmie to go out with shooting, before you apply and buy. You really will learn a lot. :)

I used guntrader to find my rifle. A CZ Style .22lr (new) 3X9X50 IR SCOPE, SAK Mod, spare mag, mounts, harris bipod, sling and swivels and 500 rnds, all for under £400. :clapper: Just have a good about and haggle a bit, there is always a bargin about. All the best ;)
