I wouldnt take anything if it was going to be wasted, the dogs get the liver and kidneys from the rabbits if I dont use them, myself, then the ferrets get the rabbit and the dogs get some rabbit bones back for chewing after the ferrets strip them

i waste nowt at all guts and skins and head get bagged up and i take them and feed the foxs.

When im putting fox snares out i put all the guts into a plastic bucket and pop a few holes in the lid a damm good attractant they make too mate

the reson i asked is i went out the other day and seen some one had killed 4 hares ans left them in the field

Its a crime against the lore of a hunting to take more than can be used . I've heard people claim that they had to kill more rabbits than they needed because they were engaged in pest control rather than hunting for the pot. The excess catch being dumped in a ditch or left lying about to attract flies ,crows ,rats and foxes Funny sort of pest control that is .

I know that there is an "R" in the month and the equinox has passed but serious ferreting won't be starting quite yet for me because it is warm and there are still a lot of flies about which will spoil the carcases.

I'd say that if you are lucky enough as an amateur or busy enough as a professional to be taking big hauls of rabbits there really is no excuse for not having sourced some sort of market for them .

That's poor form, that.

I'm along the same country road everyday and saw a shot hare tied up on one of the fences by it's back legs. No need for it at all...I stopped over and liberated the hare from the fence- can't pass up free ferret grub.

 

If i's edible, eat it.

rabbits are a fiver each on my local market,so theres never a shortage of takers for freebies,trouble is the cheeky gets want em skinned and cleaned....

If I don't eat them the ferrets do and any spare I sell to a butcher for £2.50 each skinned and gutted.

Anything I catch I eat, and also am starting to pelt the furs and going to make dummys for the working dogs at college.

i use all of my kills,either eat them myself,sell them at work or give them to the family.

duck,geese,rabbit,pigeon we eat the lot. the ferrets and dog only get the offcuts.

i wish there was a market for fox pelts,the next job is to find out more about tanning and do them myself i think.
