Guest ROUGH COATED Posted September 27, 2009 Report Share Posted September 27, 2009 (edited) Alright people had a couple of hour's on a lake today that hold's some BIG PIKE 'Used my lure rod it's a good little rod when i want to travel light when mooching round for new fishing spot's ' Got there about 3 o'clock and found some excellant spot's were the pike would be waiting so i started on the SAVAGE minnow lure's but nothing was happening so i tryed some other lure type's but still no good 'But i rememberd what niall b73 said about not going fishing without his SPINNER'S so hooked up one of the spinner's and on my third cast BANG ' Shot off in front of me but after a little play i new it was'nt a monster anyway had a good couple of hour's and a little pike on the BANK' So hopefully maybe in the winter i will land a MONSTER! Did better than me today, went pike fishing today for the first time propely, didnt catch a bloody thing, which would be fine but was there at 6 and one mate caught a 13lber and my other mate caught a couple smaller, but one of them writes about fishing for a living and the other works for a fishing tackle wholesalers, so all the best kit and knowledge compared to my £10 rod, just makes me wanna go out more though and catch up! My mate got 1 of his pike on a fly he was after perch for about 10sec after i had been trying in the same spot with a spinner i think it was, but the pike must have beed watching mine then gone for this tiny fly! I'm on about 40 pike from the local canal, mepps pulls a lot out, have recently got into using jerkbaits on short rod with a multiplier, brilliant way to get em!!! Quote Link to post

I'm on about 40 pike from the local canal, mepps pulls a lot out, have recently got into using jerkbaits on short rod with a multiplier, brilliant way to get em!!! Both really i use split shot's on the nearest end to the SPINNER'LURE what ever your useing'And with the BARREL type put it near the trace on your line you might need a bead on aswell to stop the lead from wearing the not on your line!
