MR TEA POT 1,287
Went to the farm yesterday to set a few fenns.Went to a warren where i saw a couple of rabbits drop into, went to set the fenns but the ground was like concrete and most of the holes where in amongest the undergrowth,so out of the 10 traps i had with me i set 5,i was not going to bother but i thought well i am here now. Went back this morning to check,i had a rabbit in one and just the front half of a rabbit in another, bloody fox thank god i use earth anchors or the trap would have gone. Also landed some new permision today i will put a post up in the ferreting section. Quote Link to post

I know what you mean about the ground, like iron round here could do with a drop of rain or two. Quote Link to post

MR TEA POT 1,287
what type of earth anchor do you use in that hard soil and how deep do you have to get them? good trapping These are the ones i use, once in the ground they have to be dug out as you can not pull them out. I use this type on my fenns and bodygrips. All you have to do to fix them to the trap is get some 2.5mm wire and make like the thing you find on a keyring then just thread on to the ring of the trap . Hammered into the ground say 7-8 inches they will not come out, then when you have finished trapping that hole just put them to the side for when you need them again, they will never rust and are there for ever. IanB 0
Why not use wooden ash pegs attached to the fenns to secure MRT same as the ones on pegsnares , them ground anchors are good for foxes, bit overkill for fenns... Whatever suits though Quote Link to post
