Either a thieving tosser or just a tosser (not me LOL)

I read a post on here about a guy down on his luck and who had been made redundant from working as a joiner.

He was proposing to make animal housing to earn a living and included pics of his handywork. It all looked above board and his work looked good in the pics.

I PM'd him, gave him the dimensions for a ferret hutch and he gave me a fair price.

I sent him £75 quid to pay for his materials. He didn't ask for it, I just thought as he was out of work, it would be fair to help him get started. He then disappeared for a couple of weeks and when he came back he PM'd me to say he was putting the finishing touches to it and could I send him the remainder of the money.

He said he was posting it by courier on 09:30 Monday and I PM'd him to say I would send him the rest of the money if he gave me the tracking details. All I got from him was his bank details. He has disappeared again for over a week now.

I should have saw it coming as he wouldn't accept paypal, only a postal order or cheque. I have PM'd him for all the good it is, if he doesn't come on here.

I feel like a f'ing idiot for letting myself be turned over, but if you don't trust people, then how would anything ever be sold.

sorry to hear about whats happened to you, but give the guy a chance to put things right.

you must have his details including name and address so why dont you take the time out and go see him.

Then if all else fails Name and shame him along with his personal details.

I am sure most if not all would thank you for your effort in stopping a would be Thief from gaining someone elses hard earned money.

best of luck and I hope its only a communication error on his part

keep us informed

I agree with this post.

Sad that we can't trust anyone these days, hope he hasn't robbed you

Cheers all. I didn't want to name and shame him just yet, but I've had my fill of unorganised messers as well as rip off merchants.

If he is to offer a service then he should be above board from the start. This was to be his business, all he had to do was leave a phone number or a message saying he was off for a while. He knew I had kits waiting to be housed and he still couldn't meet a generous deadline and couldn't be bothered telling me he couldn't.

Its people like him who ruin people's trust in all the rest of the decent souls on here, who are honest and trustworthy.

I hope he gets back to me, but it'll only be for a refund as I'm putting my hand into my pocket again this weekend to build my own.

I have someone on here, a real decent person, who has been pissed about and is still keeping my kits back until I get sorted.

Dave

I`ve been messed about by this lad, {though i haven't parted with any money}

I saw that he was local to me, and as tdavepat, saw that he`d posted wanting to earn some money using his joinery skills

I was hoping to have kennels built to attach to a knew run i have, but hey ho looks like i`ll have to build them myself now, {Poor dogs} lol,!!!!!

I haven't got as far as getting his details, so can't help anyone in contacting him,

I`me hoping that maybe the lad has perhaps just bitten off more than he can chew, and will at some point get round to putting things right with people...

I know if he`s going to continue to work in the building/joinery trade, goodwill and word of mouth goes a long way,

:hmm: Mars...

He gave me his name and his address, which makes me think he started out with good intentions.

I still think he would be an OK sort.

But, sadly, he is definately a messer in every sense of the word. Someone who promises and assures time and time again and who actually believes everything they say, but never has the courage or conviction to say no. A Walter Mitty.

If you can get large van to Essex you can take my 6' hutch for the price of a beer or two in an effort to restore your faith in mankind!!!
