From my own experiences friend it doesn’t really matter weather you are using Real Tree or one of the other tree type camo companies products or even military DPM when stalking around after your quarry as they are all designed to break up and disrupt your bodies shape but leave your outline in tact blending you into a back ground. The key to that statement is back ground. You need to ensure that you are covered by a full back ground from your feet to the top of your head.

 

Gillie suits etc are excellent for taking your cam that one bit further by breaking up the shape of your body and your human outline making you look different from a human being.

 

If ambushing then i would sooner use a gillie suit or a head and face veil (Ninja suit as you put it) with my DPM or my Advantage suit. as you are sitting still and want to break your outline up and physical parts of your body.

 

Movement and scent is the biggest give away when either in a gillie suit of DPM / Advantage clothing.

 

If you’re slow with deliberate movement and down wind of your quarry with a good back ground you will get your shot, but if your fast erratic and up wind you may as well stay at home.

Hey, i read a book not long ago called 'sniper on the eastern front' Basically it's an account of the experiences of a sniper in the Wehrmacht, on the Russian front, during World War 2 - not a desirable place to be by the sound of it! Unlike the Russians, zie German snipers were few and far between. They didn't have time for Ghillie Suits as they were called from on trench to another doing counter-sniping; then covering their guys withdrawl when they finally bogged off back to Germany! Anyway, the guy in question: Sepp Allerberger, he carried an umbrella with the cloth removed and some hessian put in place. He could collapse it when moving, then open it up when in position, stuff a bit of the local foliage in to have an instant bit of cover! Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me!

my most successful session on the bunnies was during the day, shooting from a tractor, wearing a boiler suit.!!!! (thats what the farmer wears)

 

you have to get to your quarry in the most natural setting.............and sometimes that can be the opposite of what you think.

 

on most farms they are so used to tractors that they hardly flicnh when you drive right passed them.

 

that said, for stalking rabbits (or anything else) at dawn or dusk any dark clothing that coresponds roughly to your surroundings is fine......."real tree" works well in woodland ( for obvious reasons).

 

i guess its just down to personal choice and what works for you.
