lurcher question

hi i am a newbie here so please be gentle with me icon_redface.gif

my question is ihave always had labs and springers and trained and worked them every season,but iam now considering getting a lurcher as i want to start coursing with my mate and i would like your input on what to get the dog...or bitch will be in a family enviroment with young children and 2 labs and a patterdale terrier.would a lurcher fit into this.

all input greatly appreciated

it should get on fine if u get a pup a older dog u wont know they are a few corusing dog crossers out ther just think witch type of dog will suite to be honest i like both dogs and bitches from a corusing point of few u will be better of choseing a dog with shere speed i.e greyhound cross i tend to keep away from saluki crossers i like a dog to have a fast 100 yard sprint and have it thats just my opinon.

cheers lads it would mainly be working open ground where we have permission and possibly chasing down while ferreting.
hi mate get a proper coursing whippet for ferreting they r awsome if u have them from a pup and bring them up how u want them.beware of uther people's s**t .all the best.
