donnyc 1,203
Seems it jumps a generation ?? Do you think its because it was pushed to hard into the first generation and it sickened some away from it?.Second generation pick it up again..Like the dogs breed very tight usually its the next generation come better?? Waz 4,266
Only person I know of in my family who done a bit was my mum's dad (me grandad). I think he only got into rabbiting in the second half of his life. My brother was the only other person in my family who done any kinda of field sports, and to be honest it was always more 'urban' than field LOL. Its fallen to the wayside with him now. dogs-n-natives 1,182
Similar to a lot of you here, mine and bftb's grandad was an avid terrierman and lurcherman.... my father is a keen shooter and countryman but the dogs seem to have skipped the generation.... i definately got my love of working dogs from my grandad. moggs 18
my grand father and father got me into terrier work at an early age. My grand father was sadly too ill to take me out digging when i was a kid but every saturday he'd get the old album out with photos of dogs, digs and some other stuff. Always a different story on every dog, i thought they were made up untill all the local digging boys backed them up. My dad was hunt terrier man and thats when my love for digging took off with first hand action and there was a lot of it. So i'd say its in my blood but i didnt have much choice, luckily.haha.
