Rifles and where to keep them

Recommended Posts

My mum don't want any firearms in the house, which I fully respect. But I am just wondering before I apply for my FAC or SGC, is if there is anywhere else that I can legally keep them that the firearms officer will be happy with, i.e gun clubs or something.

Thanks

A friend of mine also hates guns and refused to let her bf keep them in their house. He got around this by having a gun cabinet at his friends house where he kept the weapons. I dont know whether or not there is a rule that you have to actually live in the house where they are stored or not.

Best check with your local FAO and get some advice I think!

As Far as im aware you have to live where the guns are stored as no one else is ment to have access to the cabinet, even if they dont have the keys it wouldnt take a genius to work out how to get into one! might be worth ringing B.A.S.C as they will no the law regarding this, Good Luck

There is no rule that says the guns have to be stored in the same property which the certificate holder occupies.

You could have the cabinet in the house of a complete strange if you wanted to, as long as you are the only one with access (Figure of speech BTW)

The key word in all of these questions is Access. You can have the cabinet at a friends house, or your fathers house etc, as long as only you have access then its perfectly legal.

I don't know what your licensing department's or local FEO's (still don't know what an FAO is) views on the matter are, but there is nothing to stop you.
