the amazing bull cross!!

Recommended Posts

The bull x has taken over from the saluki cross from years back............ everything was saluki, saluki, saluki.

Altho' i've got a second generation 3/4 bred that's doing me fine.

Unlike these 80/90lb cock extentions the seem to be paraded around and used for.......... ;) .

i judged the Irish game fair this year and there was a 'fox lurcher' (they don't have a bull x class ;) of 80lb+ and the lad said''......he can kill a fox'' to which i replied he's entitled to, he's four times the size, if he couldn't i wouldn't give it kennel space. BUT can he catch one?????

A lot of good and valid points on this thread, people breeding a litter just 'cause they're bull crosses, look the part etc, to much money involved, the latest fad etc, all are valid points, but I think that there's one missing maybe, some one buy's a bull cross, with a bit of luck a tidy one, takes it out, see's it working and then perhaps shits his / her pants.

The "overnight" bull X owners quite often aren't prepared for the "prey drive" that a decent one may have, and then realise that they have taken on too much dog for them, and hey presto, it's up for sale with some cock and bull story. I have said it before and i'll say it again, this cross is not 1) Not For beginners with lurchers, and 2) Most certainly not for the faint hearted. Thats not bravado, or blowing sunshine up anyones arse, thats from having kept and worked that cross for more years than I care to remember. Just my humble opinion

some really intersting replys here. I just think if someone with the right intentions gets a bullx, and whose going to work it right and treat it right, i.e, not get it smashed to bits by 12 months then either sell it or use some other means of getting rid when it doesnt do what they want can turn it into a fantastic dog. Ive got a half cross whos 80lb and is very quick and racey but still unbelievably strong and game. what im trying to say is in the right hands they are an awesome all rounder. we dont all wear tracksuits and walk round with cans in our hands and put our dogs on things that can't even run.

This fella for one 3/8 collie 5/8 grey 26in 70lb . Had him in the late [80's] smash foxes for fun, grab them and shake the shit out of them. Once he [knew] how to take them, didnt get marked to much then. Blaze great dog tackle anything :victory:

im no pro when it comes too hunting with lurchers,as only had them for a couple of years, if you like bull crosses and need them, then get one, if you like collie crosses then get one ,if you like beddy crosses then get one,why on this site is there so much debate on bull xs,if it does the job for you then fine, who cares what anyone else thinks, its your F*"!*"g dog,and stag 1, i got a first cross beddy whippet to accompany my collie grey/whippet and as he is only young he wont be entered yet and when he is, it is for rabbits as im in england and deer and fox are something i cant hunt, can you tell me why they are shitty please, because ive usually only heard good things about these dogs cheers rich

im new on this forum , iv had proper bred bullxgreyhounds for 17years from selecting the right bull to the right greyhound, but latley its being a trend to put staff or other crap into a dog with colie ,saluki, deerhound, bedlintons, and then got the cheek to call it a bull cross when the amount of bull is bull shit, sorry to be blunt but u get a 50-50 u wont beet it for a all round lurcher and thats fact.
