Shotgun Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

I'm looking at getting a game gun (over & under) and a semi auto, i have around £600 for each, and i am perplexed at the different models etc...

I know that you can't get a shotgun to do everything, hence i will get two. My main quarry will be rabbit, canadian geese, duck, pidgeon, crows, rooks and squirrels etc....

Can anybody shed some light on what i should be looking at please, i would prefer something quite light and 28" barrels with multichokes.

Has anybody got any experience with Midland Gun Company Semi's and Marrochi A12? My main requiremnt on the over & under is ejectors and an auto safety.

Many thanks

Why are you after 2 guns with what you have described?

A Semi with multi choke and 28/30 inch barrels will do it all for you!

If you intend FORMAL Game Shoots then perhaps an O/U will be required, not because of any working features, just etiquette. But there are plenty of semi auto Game Guns!

I believe I am right in saying Midland Gun Co guns are Turkish (someone will correct me if I'm wrong) and all I know about Marrochi are that they are Italian, biggest shotgun manufacturing country in the world!

Cheers mate

Yes, semi is sorted, just that some clay & driven shoots don't allow semi's  , so thats why two needed really.

Would the etiquette for FORMAL game shoots not be for S/S rather than U/O ?

In essence yes, almost certainly the best option, but in this context it was Semi Auto or O/U, in which case the O/U wins hands down!!
