T78 4
one of my dogs knocked his front right foot 3 wk ago and his outside toe seemed slightly swollen and he was limping but didn't seem in pain so i rested him.he seemed to have healed ok and was bouncing about with the other dogs and showing no sign of injury.took him out two nights ago, first run,he was fine,no probs at all but on the second run,he came back limping quite badly on same foot.(the run was was on soft clean land)called it a night and took him home. now he is limping very badly on the same foot, doesn't want to put any weight on it and he seems to be up on his toes on that foot(main pad not toucjhing the floor).there is no swelling or cuts and he seems happy in himself and not in pain apart from not putting weight on it. any ideas as to what he's done or is it a vet job? undisputed 1,664
sounds like a bruised or sprained toe...possibly tendon damage ....think of running on a sprained ankle and going over it again, Even if the dog is putting weight on it it still needs time and rest to recover fully....fire some matacam into it but rest up for a few weeks
skycat 6,174
6 to 8 weeks for a broken toe. UP to 12 weeks for a sprained joint, which obviously includes toes! Ligaments and tendons take ages to come right as their blood supply is rubbish. Massage Bone Radiol into the joint with an old toothbrush: gently and don't use more than twice a week: its powerful stuff.
T78 4
i don't think its a toe thats injured this time as he seems to be putting all the weight on his toes and keeping his "heel" from touching the floor. i beleive its his wrist that he's damaged or twisted. was intending plenty of rest now anyway.where's the best place to get bone radiol from? cheers for advice btw.
