Leeview 791
10-12mm 1/2" dowel is fine to start out with about 30"high and you'll be on your way Y.I.S Leeview Quote Link to post

oakey 57
Been talking to a old chap down the pub who tells me that he always used ash poles as they weren't as easy to snap like hazel due to a higher water content Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
Been talking to a old chap down the pub who tells me that he always used ash poles as they weren't as easy to snap like hazel due to a higher water content The only problem with using Ash is that to get long net pegs of the right diameter the wood in the pegs will be mostly sap wood and will not last as long as well seasoned hazel. However puse net pegs made of well seasoned Ash are brilliant to use. TC Quote Link to post
