Catcher 1 639 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Share Posted September 23, 2009 Iv had lurchers pritty much since the dawn of my time and never in the whole of my life have i hear of this ridiculous phrase "DOG PEDDLING" Il asume by most peoples posts & topics that this means to breed or buy and sell dogs ? But youl all have to excuse me if i sound a bit dim but what the hell as it got to do with anybody who breeds dog's for what ever reason or who buys and sells dogs for what ever reason ? Someone is going to have to try very hard to get me to understand the phrase dog peddling because at the moment it just seems to me like another excuse to have a go at any tom dick and harry for breeding a litter of pup or even a little bit of jealousy cramed in there aswell especialy from the younger generation that tend to buy a lurcher then all of a sudden become a dog expert over a month or so. And before we go any further let me just mension a few dog dealer peddler that have been round for an age and made thousand upon thuosands of pounds buying & selling dog, like ken gould, garry middlton the terrierman, dave hancocks, minshaws and thats just four breeders and dealers or dog "peddlers"!!! And by the way how many of you complain to theses guys about the amount of pups they have bred over the decades ???? NONE!! Il tell you why because if these dealers and peddlers hadnt been around breeding and selling "peddling"! dogs none of you winging lot would have any namby pamby looking lurchers or terriers to go running round terrier & lurcher show rinks on your tippy toes would you ??? Stick your replys here and when the posts stop comming il give my opinoin on one or to of them if its a good enough point. Before i leave this topic for you lot to squabble over can i just mension the 100 of thousand of ferrets that get bred that go to everybody and anybody round the country but for some reason dont get a mension in the peddling posts and topics, am i missing something ??? In my eyes a peddler is someone who breeds and breeds of bitches regardless of their health, keeps the pups and adults in squallid conditions and generally doesen't give a f#ck about his animals and is only interested in the readies jmo. " i bred the litter to keep one back for myself.....and the other 7 are 250 pound each " what a load of ol bollocks.....if you want a pup off your own dogs then breed away but dont then come out with bullshit to try and justify the peddlars mentaility..... also...i dont give a monkeys if a man keeps dogs in great conditions,in great kennels,well fed and cared for.....there is still no real reason for 75 % of working dogs to have been bred....how many working dogs go to working homes maybe 25 % ?..........the overspill should be culled not sold so that some lazy f****r can buy a widescreen telly without working for it !.......it beats me why these people are not weeded out.....quality of any product drops when it is overly produced as does the price.........if you have a good product have pride in your animals and charge a good price dont flog them out to anyone who wants them just to recoup a few quid. No mate you're not. I suspect you are absolutely cock on with this one. There are lots of folk on here with opinions that have no logic attached, this doesn't just apply to "dog peddlers"! I believe that some of the motives of their opinions/comments are based purely on, jealousy, competitiveness (my dogs the best) ignorance and vindictiveness. However you aint gonna change a thing as it is too deep rooted now and ignorance is a hard enemy to fight. gnasher16 30,598 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Share Posted September 23, 2009 Its not just working type dogs though.As their will always be a market for toy breeds so IMHO it would be more profitable to breed these atb i totally agree with this.....and it just shows the dim mentality of your average peddlar,or maybe their ego i dont know which.... your average working dog sells for what 250ish ?.....a kc chihuahua or yorkie etc sells for 3 times that.....they take up a third of the space and a third of the food bill !.....why not go f**k around in these breeds if moneys the motive you cant lower the quality of them much more than they are already are....and leave working dogs for straight up folk...... Hi poacher mate.My mum got a peddigree King charles.I told her before she got the dog.that i would go with her.She seen an add in he paper.Went herself said the lady was very nice.I fecking bet she was £500.I found out where it came from a puppy farm.It was a six year walking vet bill before it had to be put to sleep.Thease pricks discust me they pick on the old and the people who dont know any better.To me they are scum.who will let dogs suffer just to make a buck.Where are the f--king antis when you need them.atb Catcher mate Quote Link to post Share on other sites

So what gives you the god given right to decide who should have a working type dog even if they dont want to work it ie any old tom dick or harry?? Its a dog just the same as any other dog, four legs and a tail and anybody has the right to own one weather they work it or just have it as a fire side companion. Most of us see dogs as companions who enrich our lives and provide us with sport. Some see them as 'accessories' to be bought and sold on a whim, and used to generate cash to buy the latest fashions. My opinions are well known. This site would be much better if the sale of all animals was banned. If you want to buy a dog, or any other animal, put yer hand in yer pocket and buy an exchange and mart or whatever. I don't agree but your entitled to your opinion..I think its great to buy and sell and breed quality dogs.however I can understand ware you are coming from..ther are some people who keep ther dogs in apaling conditions don't even work them and then go and just breed for cash..that's wat I call rong..as for a pashenate dog worker and breeder I thing its the best buzz of all breeding qualaty and seeing how they turn out.making frendsand dealing with other dog men meeting up and seeing your breed run is somthing else its not great to to buy and sell and breed quality dogs, if you brought a ''quality'' dog why would you sell it , so you buy ''quality'' dogs bred them and sell them? buy and sell and buy and sell ? if so this is a poor excuse ''breeding qualaty and seeing how they turn out'' or have i misread what your saying? if im wrong i apologiz but this is how i see what you've said Quote Link to post Share on other sites
