what dog to buy

Recommended Posts

Sounds like you have never had a working dog before,

So my advice is to get a black lab from working stock .

Easy to train and have a steady pace, Watch out for chewing when left alone .

P.S i have had 2 ESS and 2 cockers i know the trouble they cause so that is why i advised a lab , now have a ESS and a border terrier[i also used to have lots of HAIR !]

i want to buy a dog for rough shooting i do not no what to but can you help

Rough shooting is a wide spectrum.

Can you describe what you want your dog to do -mostly eg hunting up game/fur/vermin for you or retrieving or both.

Also the type of ground you will be shooting on - eg thick heavy cover, hedgerows upland moors as this will influence the best type of dog .

Springer or Cocker but having said that I used to have a lot of fun with a Jack Russel.

hiya,

i have a couple of sprockers, half springer, half cocker. great working dogs if you get from working lines.. they have the enthusiasm of springers with a little of the steadiness of cocker.. a bit more size than a working cocker that hit cover hard and work very well for me...

regards..

simon...
