saluki's is probaly not the best dog to start with for a general puropose allround hunter, look at collie x greyhound, bedlingtonx whippet or greyhound, as Emeera points out saluki's take a 'certain' kind of owner to get the best out of them, utilising stamina to catch, dictates they need ample room to run, they can and are used as allrounders, but the crosses mentioned above will be easier to train, less expensive to buy, easier to get hold off.

Get yourself a decent lurcher book and have a good read of it before buying a pup, it will work out better if your prepared before purchase, the last bit of advice I would give anyone is get a pup and not what someone claims to be a 'top notch' older dog, decent dogs do not come up for sale this time of years, crap that lazy twats have ballsed up already.

Best of luck to you mate,

what you want really depends on the type of land you want to run on - and indeed what sort of hunting you wish to do - which you havent specified.

Tell us abit about what you're about and what you are looking to achieve and im sure more info will be forthoming.

Personally though I would steer away from a saluki for you first dog - :victory:
