Wxm 1,638
me my self id by an older dog and you know what to look for in how to train a pup. when looking for a working dog if it stats that the dog is working you want to see it run. after you have seen the dog work you now know what you want your pup to do. undisputed 1,664
When ever possible start with a pup.....most adult dogs that are any good will not be for sale anyway....there's generally a good reason why someone gets shot of a full grown dog and your generally buying or taking on someone elses problem;) Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Dont think i am being funny but have you ever owned a dog before any dog???? Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Pup! If your serious about learning about dogs then start with a pup, if you get an older dog you may well inherit some one elses problems, and if you have no exprience then you wont be able to sort those problems out Quote Link to post
tamc 11
Pup! If your serious about learning about dogs then start with a pup, if you get an older dog you may well inherit some one elses problems, and if you have no exprience then you wont be able to sort those problems out ive had lurchers for 35yrs always get pups dont want other peoples mistakes all my dogs didnt turnout superstars but they could all catch their share and were well behaved and the bond u get cant b bought.no feeling like seeing their 1st catch cos udid it yurselfs Quote Link to post
Paid 935
Pup every time. You can then learn together. There's always a reason an adult dog is sold on, and it is very rarely the reason you are given. Quote Link to post
Paul in North Lincs 15
pup - extremely rewarding watching it all come together when you;ve trained a pup form scracth - however, if you are a 'flash in the pan' enthusiast - please stay clear from either. Read, learn , seek adivce - and do the job properly if you are certain your in the game to stay Quote Link to post

sniper 30
for youre first dog, its gotta be a pup.becomes you're own, feels great when it comes on, catches its first game, makes you feel a proud owner, alot of older dogs are usually sold due to them having problems, just dont be fooled into anything and rush, take your time and reap the rewards.atb sniper Quote Link to post

selsey lamper 5
get yourself a pup no one sells a good dog theres not to much to traning its all about what you want the dog to do and just keep doing it over and over the dog will get it in the end have fun with the pup and bond with it rember mans best friend most dogs will run after things but not all dogs hunt look for a dog with a bit of balls and have fun all the best Quote Link to post
the great white hunter 1
best off buying a pup so can train it how you want it to be it might take time but it could be woth it at the end and if you buy an older dog you want 1 that you have seen run because people dont sell good dogs these days cos there hard to find atb great white Quote Link to post
