Guest Ditch_Shitter
I was hoping, seeing it was you that answered, for a bit more than that, Foxdrop. Granted, the man above may have any sort of idea in mind. As may your answer have been moulded for? But, myself, I'm seriously considering one and just can't seem to find much gritty, hands on jin about them. I know P&G swears by his; I'm looking more for the why's and where for's. Could you help, please? I'd be looking at mine to replace my customary .22 Air Pistol, for despatch of Cage Trap catches. What's your imidiate response to that idea, please? Bearing in mind that, on occasion, 'Hush' may be the operative word (Neighbours / 'Stock) and yet attained while firing in a pretty well downward direction. (I say this because in my day, when the first commercially available sound moderators became available, they were such that their selling point was that they functioned better the closer to vertically upwards the shot was taken) Also, believe it or not; I'm actually yet to acertain wether these bloody things are actual 'out of the box' guns, or a moderator which one fits to an existing gun! Seriously! I imagine they must be removable as I could only seem to track down adverts for what appeared to be the Hush, without any Power behind it Assuming then that they Are a fully moderated .410 shot gun; What about the gun itself? P&G mentioned using 3" Mag's through his? Any more details on the (supposed) gun that (assumedly) comes as standard, please? Come to that: IF you have a decent Link to hand ....? I felt I was trying to get into the Masons, via Google, tracking any sense down about these things! What's the craic with them? Much obliged Quote Link to post
IanB 0
http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/hushpower.htm Would go for the 410 deffo for close range dispatch Quote Link to post
Wilky 0
I own one and it's a fantastic tool for the right jobs. I use Gamebore or Eley 2 1/2" No 6's through it most of the time and it's very quiet, mine is a Pedretti version but they are using Baikal now I believe. I paid 270 pounds for it new and it was a bargain as far as I am concerned, it's fantastic for various jobs at night and it's still capable of folding up if you need that sort of thing. It's also a good little daytime rabbiting gun, but because it's fully choked you need to be a reasonable shot. Hope that helps. Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Three Hundred and What?!? FFS!!! And that's a single barrel? God, that's scarey! Ok, lads. Thanks for the input. I'd like the Baikal ~ has somewhere more 'normal' to put my left hand ~ but, bloody hell! At Those prices? I only want it for popping off rats and things Ok, pushing it a bit I know but, anyone had any experiance with the seperate Moderators? Fifty five squid jobs? I mean, obviously, I can pick up a cheap and battered little .410 somewhere for chips, look. I wouldn't mind shelling out the extra to quieten even That down a bit. Give me that bit more discretion when the deed needs to be done, round the back of the 'stock sheds. But three hundred and fifteen quid?! F*** Right Off! I'm a bloody Rat Catcher, not an embezzling Accountant! Quote Link to post

I believe you can still get the 9" moderators from Saddlery and Gunrooms, and I know where there is one that may be for sale, but I've used it on the lads .410 and thought it was absolutely shite, hardly made any difference and the barrel seems to go on forever. There was a lad on here or smoochers making full length mods, try a search and see what you think of them, but my gun has paid for itself more than once, so I wouldn't let the price put you off. SPONGEBOB 0
had a hushpower up until last year, good little gun.used it for squirells and rabbits mainly, quite enough unless you put 3'' in it.al in all tho a good mooching and nightime gun. Quote Link to post
Squirrel_Basher 17,100
DS- how much more discrete than a .22 air pistol can you get .No amount of "hush" will equal the quietness of an air pistol .Plus you got to think of trap damage .Mate has a hushed .410 but being used to a standard barrel ,I never get on with it well .Nothing against them ,just personal preference. Guest Ditch_Shitter
Weird quirk of Irish law, Drops; They treat Air Pistols like 'real' hand guns. Makes it murder getting a chit for one and even if ye do ~ as far as I'm aware ~ it can only be used for paper targets. Same with Air Rifles. I'm absolutley loath to stand back and fire a 2" .410 at one of my traps; But what's a man to do? Must be why all the locals say, if I get a mink in a cage, sling the lot in a barrel of water Err ... Not my way, mate. I'll use the .410. Quote Link to post
