Rabbithunter 456
Anyone MADE their own longnets? I was gonna make a 50 or 75 yard spun nylon, i got till about 18 foot and jacked in :11: Quote Link to post
doddsy1970 9
I used to make my own gill nets and they would be about 500 yds long but they would take about a month to complete, That was 10-15 years ago. I know making your own nets is cheaper but i just don't have the time or the inclination to do it Quote Link to post

mackem 28,067
Ithink he means adding the leadline and floatline to a machine-made sheet of mono Quote Link to post

Rabbithunter 456
Do you think Trammel Nets have a place in a rabbit catcher armoury, or did you make the trammels for fish? And why or why do would you make a nylon longnet? Fair play to you, i certainly couldnt be arsed, especially when a 200yard sheet of nylon netting doesnt cost very much VD, still on 190, havent bothered with it today, had a busy day, worked 8-4, dog out soon as i got in, dropped the remainder of my ferret kits off for a lad, had my tea, took dog out again, seen a mate and talked for half an hour, then went out with another mate (see general talk, traffic cops) Quote Link to post
netrigger 568
Whats wrong with making nylon long nets by hand, Ive made a few double stranded 2z nets and a couple of 3z/2z stranded , they handel really well in the field, maybe Duckwing made similar nets out of nylon. Keep at the net ive no doubt it will be a pleasure to work with. Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
netrigger, not saying theres anything wrong with it... fair play to you for sticking it out i just couldnt be arsed Quote Link to post
DUCKWING 302
WELL LADS , AN OLD FELLA I LEARNED A BIT FROM ONCE SAID............. " THE BEST WAY TO LEARN HOW TO HANDLE NETS IS TO MAKE THEM " .............. THERES A LOT OF MEAT IN THEM WORDS ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Quote Link to post
Rabbithunter 456
right lads. im now on 1380 rows. i only need another 320 rows to make one hundred yards of net. which will be rigged onto 2mm lines to make a 50 yard 10/9 spun nylon long net. Its taken a bit of time, but i'm sure it will be well worth it. Quote Link to post
