Getting some scent into the Pup

Well my pup Fern was 6 months at the week end and after coming on so well with her training, i thought it was time to get her out up the Dale and let her hunt up a few rabbits, she is good on the blind retrieves so getting her to hunt wasn't a problem.

I left the Shotgun at home but took the starter pistol, she has been around gunfire at the Clay ground, but a little more wont hurt.

She learnt alot in the reedbeds and luckily she found out what she was hunting, i wont be taking her up the dale to often yet as she is still young with plenty of time, but i think its good to get some scent into them and break the retrieveing rutine every now and then.

Dave I really enjoy regarding your articles regarding fern, coming on very nicely for a pup!! Well done to both of you, whats your plan with her?? Shooting companion or may you try a few trials or tests with her, i only ask because it looks like she is full of natural ability and she has alot more in her to do yet!!

WELL DONE MATE :clapper:

Thanks for the intrest, she will only be used to shoot over and as its mainly rough shooting Vermin all year round, she has alot of work ahead of her.

I know most people would think a Springer would have been the better choice (and they would proberly be right :clapper: ), but i liked the look of her parents both hard hunting and athletic, so we will have to wait and see.

Cheers

Dave.
