max abell 196
After owning and using both the quickset and the traditional nets the 4 that ferret together are in split descission 2 of us prefere the quickset and 2 prefere the traditional ? The quickset being prefered for the speed you can get it out and in and the traditional being prefered because its lighter to carry and is much better on uneven ground WHAT TYPE DO THE FERRETERS ON THIS FORUM PREFERE PLEASE AND WHY Quote Link to post
muddy 6
I prefere the quickset nets because they are so easy. Everything is in one basket. You don't have to have a bag for your nets, and a bag for your sticks. The slack in the net between the sticks is preset, so you can just run them out. Quote Link to post
Teesdale-rabbiter 15
I would use quickset every time! but at the end of the day its each to there own! Quote Link to post
s horsfield 7
i'm new to this but just got a 50yrd quickset and i was amazed at how easy it is ,you could do it blindfolded. But i think i will have to have ago with a traditonal just to compare them. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Quick set for ferreting because its easy to transport when moving to another warren, traditional for running out behind bunnies while they are in the field Quote Link to post
Fat-Ferret 857
I use both, Quicksets are very fast and good for ferreting on the easy level short grass areas, But a traditional comes into its own if your on more uneven hilly ground, and going through hedge gaps and fences etc is where they are most useful. I also have a quickset where I set the foot line quite a bit longer than the head line, and on even very rough ground its easy to keep the foot line on the ground slack, and by tilting the poles very slightly, keeping tension in the head line as well, but there are times when the traditional is still better. For night time Long Netting, the quickset is fast and handy, But still I find more satisfaction catching rabbits with a traditional run out on Hazel poles... Quote Link to post
