TOP PREDATOR 0
looking at a remington model 5 in 22lr, going on sale this weekend in my area for 189.99. if anyone has experience with it, my question is how does it compare in accuracy to a cz 452 or savage MKII. i have a mkii now, but am looking for a dedicated smallbore silhoutte / 100 / 200 yard compition rifle. my MKII is doing -1.75" groups at 100, and -7" groups at 200. mike white 1
Hi mate i had a zastava cz 99 precision which is now the rem mod 5 i also currentley have a cz 452 varmint , to be honest its an ok rifle shoots nice and accuracy wasnt to bad at all when using cci with mine , the only thing that lets it down is the trigger as its so hard and cant make it lighter as you can with the cz , compareing the two together the cz 452 wins hands down for me but the mod 5 is ok if you can get to use to the heavy trigger. TOP PREDATOR 0
that's the thing, i have cabela points to use up, plus an extra mailer for 20.00 off for a purchase over 120.00. i just called my "local" cabelas (about 1.5 hours away), the guy said i can use both the points and the 20.00 off toward the rifle. with tax and registration, should be about $175.00. although i love my mkii, i think i hit the accuracy wall and can't get much more out of it. i was saving up for a cz, but when i seen this remington, it caught my eye for a dedicated smallbore silhoutte set up. can't seem to find anyone that has good grouping #'s past 50 yards though. trying to get on rf central, but my log on info is messed up. biggest thing is i don't mind passing this up and going with the cz for the extra $, but if the model 5 is close, i'll take a trip on saturday to get it. just not convinced yet, so if you guys have any other opinions, reviews, or experience with it i'd appreciate it. i don't want to have a "should've bought a cz" moment..... do you happen to recall the size of your groups / accuracy of the model 5 compared to the cz? (seems your the only guy i've found that has both) Quote Link to post
mike white 1
I could get around 1.5 " with the mod 5 at 50 yards have taken bunnies out at 100 yards with it though , then with my cz baring in mind its fitted with a timney trigger i can get groups at 1/2 " no problem , all depends on how much your going to use it if your going to use it alot id go for the cz but if not often then go for the mod 5 as is definetley capable of been a good hunting rifle. Overall the build quality of the mod 5 is pretty good has a nice smooth bolt just as good as my cz , only the trigger seperates the pair , i have had no experience with a mkii so couldnt comment on that.
