It is good to watch and the dog really gets his nose down and uplifts the bracken with some style. My dog tends to air scent more when hunting normally but if I give him the fetch command and he has been unsighted he goes into that mode of hunting looking in every possible bit of cover- to me it reminds me of a pig rooting ! great to watch. As I said my dog hunts/quarters well but tends to air scent for the game scent cone and then homes in- then barbed wire would not stop him ! He only does that every lump of cover mode of hunting (as in the video)when I give him the fetch command as he knows there is something there. I used to hide his dummies in training. Anyway whatever she says to him it is good to watch as you are left in no doubt as to whether there was any game there. I have watched it a few times in case I have missed a bolting bunny ! I have watched it a few times in case I have missed a bolting bunny ! that dogs got drive looks like a pure training run mybe bunnys moved on beforehand seams to be lots of scent the handeler looks to be keeping control by lowering her hand and body to indicate to the dog that there is something there for him to find control but showing the dogs natural ability very good to see. druimmuir 1 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 Sorry been off-line a while thanks for the nice comments That video was taken years ago, my dog Finn is now nearly 8 years old and style honest, biddable and hunts with the same amount of drive, there was no game in that ground at all, he would hunt concrete if I tld him to, he always aims to please. whin 463 Posted October 7, 2009 Report Share Posted October 7, 2009 NICE VIDOE I USED TO TRAIN SPANIELs WITH A GOOD OLD FREIND OF MINES he got second in the british feild trail championship cocker championship with a little black cocker called jodie got presented with a trophy from queen , got some good rabbit land localy i still have a day out with the spaniels and running dogs great sport them flushing and dogs catching rabbs ,never got into spaneils like my running dogs but there up there with the best for flushing game and some are tirelesss workers , used to go allsorts of estates watching with mate some good times Quote Link to post
