ARE ALL LURCHER OWNERS DEPENDANT ON SLIP LEADS OR COLLARS?

I HAVE LAMPED RABBITS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS AND NEVER USE ANY OF THESE, SURLEY THE BASICS OF "NO, LEAVE AND STAY" ARE TAUGHT? PLEASE DONT TELL ME I HAVE BEEN DOING IT WRONG ALL THESE YEARS!!!

bit of rope for me through the collar never had any preoblems.

;) @ TOMO.....spot on mate...

This business of running dogs off slips,.or of allowing them to walk alongside ya,.has always caused problems for some folk...Each to their own :) If it works for you,.then its right.

The bottom line with lurchers is,.and always will be,. :11: ..

You can do what YOU fecking well like,.its entirely up to yourself...Its a free country...

For me,.that is what lurcher work is all about,..adapting different dogs to different situations ;)

All the best to all hunters...CHALKWARREN.... ;)

I'm with Tracker, Tomo and Chalkwarren on this one,i too have had running dogs used basically for lamp work only, for 25 years and never and i mean never have i used a slip lead on any of my dogs but i've seen plenty of good animals running off slips so if it works for you then stick with it.Cheers Andy. ;)

Same here Andy,..but as you say,..each to their own :rocker:

If its just one man and his dog fair enough running your dog without slip is fine and i enjoy running my dog this way but if either you have more than one dog and your not lamping off the van and you may be in company say for example the lamping comp then you,d have to run with a slip, surely it depends on the situation at the time.

WELL SAID MATE !

I was just going to put up the same reply.I find that without a lead to hold on to its so much easier to control the lamp ie get the red filter of quickly etc and you must all have tried to take a leek with the dog in one hand and your lamp dangling on the floor,so much easier with a free hand
