davyt63 1,845
Hi every one I have done a grouping test, on 3 different pellets in .177, against my usual pellet i use AA DIABOLO FIELD there are JSB EXACT DIABOLO, .177 4.52 FIELD TARGET TROPHY, .177 4.50 WEBLEY MOSQUITOS EXPRESS, .177 4.51 AIR ARMS DIABOLO FIELD .177 4.52 Just to see how they were grouping, so once I got my zero sorted @ 30yds with a 2003 model AAS410 pre anti-tamper and @ 190bar charge, chronoed @ 11.5ftlb,cross hairs on the 6 bull.this is not about how good a shot i am its about grouping.so before all the wise cracks start.the 20pence piece is for scale, gives you an idea of group size I started with the jsb exact And I must say that the first shot went straight through the 6 bull and the other 5 followed in a medium tight group, so I was pleased with these. I tink that tighter groups are achievable given more time & patience Here are some pics My next test was with field target trophy I didn’t get of to a good start with these as they took my zero about 20/25mm above my cross hairs which on every shot were on the 6 bull, but after 5/6 shots the grouping started to open up a bit to about 12/15 mm group so after a bad start they also grouped well. Here are some pics My next test @ this range was with the webley mosquito express Which also got of to a good start but also had a 12/15mm group but more wide spread than the others and a slightly lower P.O.I but still 15/20mm away from the 6 bull Here are some pics the last test i done @ this range, was with the air arms field diabolo now after zeroing with the jsb exact, and just trying these different types of pellets, i cant say i was surprised that the AA still had a good group also a tighter group than the jsb but further away fro my P.O.I. so over all the AA still held a consistent group @ 30yds. here are some pics and this last target was at 40yds just for a bit of fun.one 10 shot mag,and surprisinly still grouped well @ this range the reason for this test, is the price of lead has gone up and trying to find a good substitute for a few pounds less.but with the same accuracy. lets not take away that groups & P.O.I is still important to me as a humane kill and respecting your quarry. Please don’t tink you will achieve the same groups with these types of pellets as every barrel is different, far for me to say that it’s not impossible to get better groups. This is something I have put together quiet sharpish, this is not about how good a shot i am its about grouping.so before all the wise cracks start!! regards davy Quote Link to post
