bitza lurchers

Wat would people define as a bitza? A lurcher with more than two different breeds in its make up?atb

at the end of the day lads i have had whippet and whippet crosses that do the biz on all quarry if a little terrier can do it then so can any dog (my opinion) horses for courses and all the rest EACH TO THERE OWN HAPPY HUNTING ALL! ATB

Thats true it is each to their own.It does boil down to wat type of dog you are happy with.Usualy determined by the first lurcher you owned. atb

This snobbery towards the bitza lurcher was started by yours truly d.b.plumer to boost sales for his mates puppy peddling buisness wile keeping bitza lurchers himself.I had never heard of them refferd to bitzas before it was printed in his books.IMHO a well bred bitza will out class any half or 3 quarter in the title of all round lurcher work.atb dell

it always gets silly on here but oooooooooooooooowwwwwwww i do like it! ,often good lurchers are put to good lurchers in the hope of good lurchers end of,the trouble is with breeding pedigrees unknowns is what the pairing is going to throw,can any one honestly say they know.its not the same as keeping stains of purpose bred coursing or rabbiting lines were all the breeding is known.as said earlier on in the thread ive seen some corkers that i would of owned given the chance but if faced with getting a pup i prefer to play it safe.

That is a valid point.I have been fortunate enough to have had dogs were the mix has come right.A mate has got a litter out of his 7 year old hancock bitch a dog that has proved herself more than enough in the lamp.He asked me to try and get a non ped whippet stud for her after we discussed it a wile he decided to go for a fast type of saluki hybred dog[drax gd red]which if i had the choice would be my prefference over a greyhound.atb dell

I have nothing against bitzas but the reason i dont use them is becouse there like lukey dips you dont know wether your pup will be 20inch or 28 fat or thin. i agree if you get the right one you have a f**king goodun bit i wouldnt go pay good money for a pup that i dont have a idea what it will end up like & i dont buy old dogs in so dont plan on getting a bitza any time soon. if you have one & its a good one show it & be proud you toke your chance & its payed of. most people that have worked dogs will have seen a good bitza some time i have seen a few good & bad bitza but i have seen some good & bad 1/2 3/4 ect of breed known lurchers aswell but its a good idea to do a thread going for the bitza.

 

The real bitsas: those from long lines of bitsas can throw very similar in type, make and shape and above all talent in the field. For example, the line mine come from I can tell before they are born that they will have good strikes, hunt well, retrieve naturally and be generally decent all rounders: not saying that they are any better than anything else, but I know what I'm getting when I breed a litter and as far as height etc is concerned I know that the bitches will be between 23 and 25 inches, and the dogs a bit bigger.

 

Above all they are easy to live with and nice characters and I like them: what more can I say? LOL And I haven't a clue of all the breeds that are really in them: know a few as I've used certain dogs whose breeding I do know, but in the main its all lurcher to lurcher for years and years.

i wouldnt call your lurchers bitzas mate becouse there breed to a line of dogs for certain a resaon & to keep similar type ie 23 to 25 inch just like plummer terrier alount ect even though your line might of started from a bitza breed dog New breeds are breed in this way. they are all breed from a select few dogs of the same family then inbreed linebreed & outcrossed to perduce a similar type of dog. that you have in my opinion is a lurcher to lurcher linebreed strain. i would say in my opinion a bitza is a dog with a unstable pedagree of multi breeds for example bits of this bits of that to make bitzas. family to distant family with a bit of a similar dog in the mix to stop any inbreeding problems to make a line, strain, breed, what ever you whant to call it. one of the main diffrences is you toke you time to make your dogs what you whant where people that breed bitzas breed 2 good dog (at least i hope but not always) of diffrent breeds then pick the pup they think will be what they whant but it dosent allway end up being what they expected. you can got what your after & what your realy not after in the same litter. now lets see pics of the people that got what they where looking for becouse thats what this threads about. lets see some good bitzas becouse all good lurchers are worth there waight in gold no mater what the breed.

And for the record, my dog is a mish mash of different stuff but just bred worker to worker........not that it matters of course

of course it matters you can raise a dog right but they cant all be good some are better than others in the same litter.dealing with lurchers with different breeds in there makeup some pups can go one way some go another you will get litter wastage, pups that dont make the grade inspite of what you do bringing them up

There are NEVER any guarantees when breeding lurchers,.BUT,...blood does count for something,..and if you match a good dog,.with a good bitch,.then (in my opinion)...it certainly ups your odds....
