waidmann 105
if there are no mineral stones about mate i'd put a few up and think about some hay, beet or wheat if there are not enough other possibilities to feed in winter. keep the dogs short and they should stay. is this a young doe? are there roe in the surrounding shoots? are they likely to top them if they wander? it may be worth talking with them about trying to preserve them untill a cull is needed( we tried this for about 6 years with fallow/pheasant/boar in our shoot in germany the answear was yep,and the next thing you know the idiot was shooting everything that came over the border but we tried every year and left them on our patch, ever faithfull in human goodness) good luck and keep us informed mate. Simoman 110
Derbyshire seems to have a low deer population in general................ Quote Link to post
yorksjt 0
Derbyshire seems to have a low deer population in general................ There are loads of Fallow, driving up the M1 between junc 25 to 28 I often see groups of Fallow and the odd Roe. Earlier in the year I also paid to go stalking reds but didn't see anything that time. I have tried to get some stalking but with no luck. Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
I know of the fallow off the M1 junction, inside Nottinghamshire. I grew up in Derbyshire and never saw a deer in the county............. Quote Link to post

Ive never seen any around the Erewash. I wonder if the county has the lowest population of dear on the uk mainland? I walk/work all over derbyshire and seeing any deer is a rarity. Quote Link to post

pw7x57 0
Monte Glad you have decided to leave them. Its a big dilemma, do you shoot or not? There are a lot of couldn't care less people out there who wouldn't think twice. It would be great to see a good population of Roe in a few years in Derbyshire. In the last few years two or three have been seen locally. For the other members, Derbyshire has a Healthy population of Red, Fallow and Muntjac if you know where to look, not as many as neighbouring counties, but here's hoping. I hope you see them again Monte keep us posted. ATB Paul Quote Link to post
