No Im stevemac from Newcastle Australia. Our stinging nettle is the same with the more wet areas having the more lush nettle we use phenergan or clartine tabs one adult dose atthe first of trouble usually does the trick, not all dogs are affected by it and some suffer much worse than others. I would imagine its not such a big move if you got family and friends out here , we never had any except for 1 or 2 people I'd met on the net but none near Dunedin, its taken a while to get settled in and to get underway with the hunting, I think it just depends how your luck runs when you get here. If I'm honest if you had offered me a ticket back to Wales in the first 5-6 months I would have snatched it off you , I just could'nt settle here.. ,then we bought a house instead of renting and other things fell into place and I'm glad I came, yet I've been on the road traveling with work most of my life - just how it goes . Its a case of there's plenty of opportunity out there/here just have to get of your arse and go get it, not wait for it to happen , that was my lesson learnt out here. It was coming over here for 2 months holiday that made us decide to move here , I thought about Oz but I was to old !!!!!!!! No foxes out here or badgers , but you other mammals and marsupials that will test you and your dogs. I have been to a few area where the rabbits are just everywhere you look and you think wow we'll get a pile here and you get none even with 5 dogs running just the the lie of the land. When you do get in with a farm its great, I just got permission on a farm to hunt rabbits and hares and to take a pig if it comes my way 8500 acres of it , never had that in U/K the land we had the pigs off is 6500 acres try getting round them in a day and fantastic scenery even if you don't catch anything. I've just got my firearms licience for a rifle and at the mo I'm doing a safe hunting course, 3 lectures on hunting deer, ecology, safety , map reading how to survive in the bush , a morning on a rifle range shooting various calibre rifles and then a wk'nd in the bush with accomplished hunters hunting fallow deer and if we're lucky enough to shoot one butchery lessons on the Sunday all for $100 - 40 quid !!!!!!!!!! It cost me around £8000 for my 2 with Zappa being 29" and my white GSD was none to small the cost was up as they go on weight height and length, Peter brought 5 lurchers out with him of various sizes and it cost him around £12000, all depends on how much you do your self, if you buy or make your own crates. Come on over give it a whirl or you'll just end up thinking what if. Cheers Germ Quote Link to post

There's no quarantine for the dogs straight off the plane and take them home , but they do have to have a lot of health checks jabs etc which bumps the cost up and you have to pay a small duty/import tax or similar when they land . I got my job over here when still living in UK , look on a site called www.trademe.co.nz an www.seek.co.nz I had the choice of a few and got them from these two sites , what trade are you there is a list of wanted trades etc on the nz government and various agencies that will help you with the immigration process and getting work here . March is getting into Autumn in NZ warmer in the N Island than South but South is the quieter, as in less populated Island , get a camper and travel its the only way to do it . We originally came for 4 wks holiday but ended up extending our stay for another 4/5 wks we were enjoying it that much. Germ Quote Link to post
