Guest Ditch_Shitter
Ok. I got some sheeps tripe(s) yesterday and have just spent a real 'fun' couple of hours running a hose through that sh*t in my sink. (Yes: A ditch length hose is now top of my priorities list!). One of my dogs is so enamoured of this stuff, he's actually been guarding it from the others all afternoon. I'm not half so impressed. But then, I'm not a dog. My question is this: I found some roughly pear shaped and sized 'Things' in there. Perfectly disgusting. I offered him one and he scoffed it, with much chewing. I then took a razor sharp knife to another one and, with much effort, found it to be of a solid, red form inside. What in hell Are those things, please? And might there be anything in amongst that lot which could harm a dog? I'm wary about Spleens. Wouldn't know one if I saw one. But I think I might have heard, somewhere, they're not to be eaten. Anybody know their sheeps guts?
Guest Frank
I use to get a load of tripe from my local slaughter house, back when i had lurchers in the 90's. I just gave it to them and they scoffed the lot with no ill effects, great stuff to fill them up and gives them plenty of energy too. Frank.

Guest Ditch_Shitter
Thanks for that, lads. I'd had such a god awfull afternoon washing that sh*t in my sink, I think I just needed a (illogical really!) little bit of reassurance. And, that said: F***ing Hell! Could you Hear them, just then?! I've never known them pounce on a bowl of grub and demolish it like they All just have that lot! Small confession; But I actually slung it in the steamer for 20 mins. Made a heck of a differance and I didn't even think to glove up before slicing it to bits for them. A decent Mincer is now a Must Well, I'm only gutted that the local Hunt has first call on this source. My bucket may last them a few days, all told. I'd surely love access to some more! I could set up a whole operation here: Wash it through a water butt, into the ditch. Spend a day steaming or boiling (or something) it. Then mince and freeze. Christ, and I'm getting this for Nothing! Happy Days!

Guest Ditch_Shitter
no wonder you live on your own Actually, believe it or not, the washing bit was what had me sat here, trying desperatly not to throw up, all afternoon! I can only guess that that washed the stench out? And giving it a quick steam also turned it fantasticly 'managable'. It handled better and cut quite well too. It's cost me a new cutting board, mind! No F***ing Way am I buttering my bread on that thing now! Dogs loved it right enough though Now, I know I'm supposed to be the roughty, toughty outdoorsman type 'n all that. But I was brought up around professional Dog Feeders and, while some of the guys I knew could probably smoke a cigarette while disemboweling a two or three week long dead hare (You should have seen us kids move, when he opened That up! ) the grub was always boiled up in a f*** off great boiler. So it's kinds natural for me to 'cook' stuff. On top of that, these are just 'pet' dogs. They've seldom been presented with 'raw and stinking' stuff and just aren't accustomed to it. Nor, for that matter, do I like it laying around my ground and being fetched back in here for hoarding in my furniture. But, yeppers; Consider me - and these dogs - an over night convert! I'll be down there again, next week. Bucket at the ready Now, if I can just source some decent 'Terrier Meal' or something to mix in with this stuff, I'll be all set. Sorted! Guest Ditch_Shitter
DS,I think the round things you found in your tripe was tape worm cysts. Ohhh, Ruby, Pulll Eeeeeeease!!!   Surely to god not?! No, I mean seriously! Sweetheart, these things were like Three or four inches long! (Oh god, I feel Sick just contemplating this!) They were relatively rock damn solid too. Sort of shaped like a lemon, but bigger? I ~ oh god  ~ I cut one open, when I'd steamed it. It had the consistancy of ( I'm So trying to keep my Jack Daniels down here!) of cooked liver ..... Now, FFS don't tell me I'd earlier fed my poor damn dog TWO f***ing Active Worm Cysts!!! That's just far too disgusting to contemplate! Rozesky: Just to get my mind off That subject, mate ..... This steamer's state of the art. Nothing too good for my dogs It has a special function where by it flash ... er ... Steams for the first so many minutes. Hits the stuff with high calibre steam. Thus it sort of seals in all the vit's and nut's anyway I just don't want to Think About what it does to f***in Worm Cysts! I need more JD. Starting to taste that sh*t on my damn lips again! Incidentally; All dogs flaked out, thoroughly well fed and happy. I guess they're saving the legendary farting till I'm tucked up in bed, eh?
