ellir0305 9
i have two hobs an albino and a polecat ferret, and after a few ferreting trips i have discovered that although bein sold to me several months back as previously worked by a guy off here that my albino is crap. he wants to wander off instead of going down the hole despite lots of runnin g round in odd places, and when he does bugger off down hes straight out the next exit, and now to the biggest problem, he hates nets i have tried getting him used to pushing them out the way or going through which his larger counterpart manages ok but he just gets annoyed and starts flapping about and tangled up. so after much wasted time and annoyance with him i have decided to give him one last chance to prove himself. so if he buggers up next time he is being offered on here FOC as a pet, and if i get no takers he is going to a ferret court in the sky and a new recruit will fill his boots any advice or offers just incase? thanks rob Quote Link to post
ssssh1forthepot 0
There are alot of people on here who would say just knock it on the head, But im sure you will be able to find it a pet home if you put it in the free adds which is alot better in my opinon. Quote Link to post

driller killer 33
ainmt being funny mate btu see the warrens hes walking out of are you bolting rabbits afterwards? Good point, theres a good chance theres nothing down the holes and he knows it. I have had plenty of warrens with nothing in them. As everyone else says failing that offer him free to good PET home, you should have no prob getting rid. Quote Link to post
jenksi87 3
stick with it for a bit mate. my jill was exactly the same, she works fine now. patience is the key. i thought about giving her away and i'm really glad i didnt! she's got 2 of this years young to teach now, cant wait to get out with them. if he's the same after this season finishes then think about giving him away as a pet. good luck whatever you do JENKS Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Give him this season to sort himself out, some times the slow starters turn out to be the best workers, and the net thing is just getting him used to not walking through them and getting him to walk under instead, he'll soon get bored getting tangled and then he'll crawl under, above all you need patience, and your animals will demand that by the bucket full Quote Link to post

longnetter 32
It sounds like he hasn't worked before mate, so you've got to give it the benifit of the doubt . If it's any consolation all my ferrets are rescues and some, most in fact come from pet homes some pick it up quicker than others...to be fair you've got to give it a season at least then if he still doesn't work give him to a pet home but all mine came round eventually.....it just drives you nuts getting there Don't ever let yourself run out of nets even if you only keep one or two in your pocket...you can bet your life that while you're standing there untangling a net rabbits will stream out of the un-netted hole so always keep a spare or two in your pocket (even if they're those cheep old 4Z things!!) Just block any hole you can't net, longnets often don't help at all because rabbits will tend to hop out of one hole straight down another on really large warrens so I'm afraid you'll have to learn to make them or just buy more atb Quote Link to post
