Could someone help with my math's!!!

Recommended Posts

I've just been trying to work out the percentages of Tia's pups. Roo we think is a 1/4 Bull 3/4 Grey (he's a rescue). Tia is 3/8 Bull and 5/8 Mastiff.

So I think I've got this right. Their 5/16 Bull, 5/16 Mastiff and 6/16 Grey.

Is this correct?

Cheers for any help.

Luke.

Percentages dont always work out as expected with mixed breeding. Offspring can show more of one parents influence than another while siblings may go the other way. This is more variable, the more breeds are mixed. For instance in your case mixing bull, greyhound and mastiff could throw pups from pure mastiff types through to greyhoundy types and some in between.

Thank you guys and girls :good:

Your right Stormyboy, most have thrown towards the Bull mastiff side, large heads, necks and shoulders, with short broad muzzles. Theirs two that are looking slimmer, with slightly more nose to them.

I believe they'll probably turn into slimmer Bullmastiff's rather than large muscular Lurchers.

There's some photo's and a video in the Working dog health and training section. Haven't taken any more recent ones yet.

Cheers again

The most likely out come. Any thing with less than half greyhound (or any running dog) in the mix is very unlikely to be "racy". Esp with heavy types like mastiff .

genes dont always work in prcentages like that, some will throw more percentage to eg bull or greyhound, some may have more percentage towards mastiff maybe,????? your better off just keeping it simple and calling them bull greyhound x mastiff greyhound,

Yep I'm sure they will be Reload, as I stated on the dog health thread, this was an accidental mating, which was too far gone to terminate, I didn't want Tia having a litter at her age. As I said above, most will probably just look like Bullmastiffs, I'm hoping the Bull and Greyhound in them will help them to hold off the weight a bit but their probably still going to be arond the 80-90lb mark.

Cheers

Luke
