my hounds 309
THE OTHER DAY (LATE TEA TIME) MY DOG HAD A HARD RUN ON BIG EARS.HE WAS A COUPLE OF FIELDS AWAY FROM ME ,WHEN I NOTICED HIM STOOD AT THE ENTRANCE TO A FIELD (THROUGH BINOCULARS).WHEN I REACHED HIM HE WAS LAYED SHATTERED.WHEN HE GOT UP HE WENT INTO THE SHALLOW DITCH AND MARKED THE ENTRANCE TO THE SMALL /SHORT DRAINAGE PIPE.HE WOULD NOT COME AWAY,TO ME BIG EARS HAD GONE TO GROUND,EVEN THOUGH I NEVER SAW THIS.IN 35YEARS ON HAVING DOGS(ON AND OFF) THIS IS THE 3rd TIME I HAVE EXPIERIENCED THIS,HAS ANY ONE ELSE .ALSO HAS ANY ONE SEEN BIG EARS SWIM ACROSS A RIVER/POND. DIDO.1 22,844
Courseing grounds sometimes have mounds with pipes in at the end of the running ground at allow an escape route in cover. It seems that certain areas have quarry that go to ground while in other areas its quite rare. I seen beagles mark to ground regually while in other areas packs its unheardof. Im not convinced its just the number of holes pipes available that cause this difference either. Quote Link to post
