new scope for my hmr

Recommended Posts

I like having a higher mag scope on HMR's. Even if you do mainly use it on a lower mag at least youve got the option to go up a bit should you feel the need to zoom in a bit one day.

Id settle on a lower, even fixed mag scope for 22 rimmy but not on the hmr.

You would find the higher mag great for sniping bunnies of the bipod at longer ranges and for targetting etc.

I have both a nighteater and viper and out of the two I would say the viper is the better scope glass wise. However the annoying scb reticle it comes with would make it not as good as the nighteater which you can specify with a mildot however with the mamba you get the same mtc quality as the viper but without the annoying reticle and high turrets. Plus the mamba looks nicer :D

thinking about a new scope for my .17hmr

currently have a 3.5x10x50 but what a bit more magnification

nikko stirling nighteater 4-16x50ir or mtc mamba 4-16x50

any thoughts

Either should do. Although I have yet to find any practical use for IR!!

The HMR is a 100-150 yard tool in general use (please... lets not start a debate about range) so no need to spend a fortune or have massive magnification.

No recoil either, so no worries about shaking it apart!

Yeh!!!!! .....always buy the best you can but be sensible with it...all my rimfires have innexpensive(ish) scopes and I use them day and night without any trouble!
