ferreterni 29
Don't know if I'm wasting my time here, but worth checking. I am having to get back into employment after a long lay off and wondered what I would need to do pest control in northern ireland. Really stumped as don't even have a driving license I have tried looking it up but can only find one, one day course and that doesn't even give a qualification. I know it would be hard work, but have to start again somewhere. There is only one company in this area too, so could be plenty of work if I can do it. Unless anyone is employing? Plenty of experience with exotic animals, and not bothered by bugs. Bred crickets for years. Really just want to find out what I need to get started, training and certificate wise. Thanks for any help. Quote Link to post
stubby 175
Id say you need a full driving license first Quote Link to post
ferreterni 29
It's first on the list. Should have took it 10 years ago when I'd paid for all the lessons haha Just can't seem to find what is needed for training and certificates etc Licensing for buying chemicals etc. Probably wouldn't be to hard to get driving then just advertise for rats etc and wasps constantly in summer, but want to do it right if I'm going to do anything. ferreterni 29
Thanks, but what else. Would I need to get back to england for courses? Don't want to just wait until tests is sorted before I can get on with things. Just can't find out anything anywhere. Quote Link to post
lilpip1234 62
driving license, gun license, experience trapping and snaring, not sure if u need training though Quote Link to post
ferreterni 29
Was more along the lines of wasps, insects, rats etc for chemicals and that kind of stuff. Never thought about gun license. Pain in the arse need a permit for 12ftlb air rifle. More to ponder. Don't want to try a cowboy job at it. Do it properly and get a trade for life. That's the plan anyway haha Got some nets in for sale section if any one's interested? That's to pay for provisional license Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Get your driving licence sorted first, and then get a job with another company. They will train you and put you in for your RSPH exam in NI. When you've got your driving licence sorted, drop me a pm; I have a couple of contacts over there who may have vacancies. Thanks very much. That's very decent of you, and it's appreciated. Just hope I can pass test first time. Definately need to do something, pushing 30 and can see the top of the hill haha Quote Link to post
