Steve McHardy 2 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Share Posted September 8, 2009 looking at getting a pup when my kennel is finished (next week) so i been thinking about its bed, what have you guys got as beds and what you use as bedding, some pics would be nice if you can lads thanks for the replies.. carl carl , just get a large plastic dog pet bed and raise it of the floor ,and then visit your local charity shop once or twice a month and get a few bags of old clothes they cant sell,use the clothes for bedding ,you can change it as regular as you want . and take the plastic bed out side to wash it at the same time .. i use wooden beds which i knock up useing ply and 3x2 raised up off the floor and straw for bedding have to change often in this shitty weather just make it to whatever size you want. you can even make it in such a way as you can extend it as the pup grows as long as there are no screws sticking out anywhere and ply is quite chew resistant if you have the budget marine ply is coated and can be washed out treat the normal wood to as cuprinol can deterr chewin as well. Shredded paper is also very good, but you'll need a good supply as once it gets wet, it goes hard and needs replacing. Your charity shop sheets are as good as anything, can be dried if wet, and replaced if soiled, and dont harbour mites etc. Yer pays Yer money, Yer takes Yer choice I suppose. B Quote Link to post

Guest GoneToGround1 Posted September 8, 2009 Report Share Posted September 8, 2009 dog will be 23 to 25 tts hi mate i managed to pick up to new grit boxs the big square type solid plastic .lid for easy accses wouldnt use anything else now and shredded paper for beding best thing to use it them grit bins, looked everywhere for one but i couldn't find one, i got a sulu bin the big square ones cut a square out of the front and put flaps there to stop water when im washing the kennel down, big lid on the top for easy access, 4 wheens which take this bin around 6/7 inches off the floor. best thing i ever done was get this...ill get you pics tomorrow, id definetly go for plastic i used wood before (ply) done the job ok but rotted after a while, in my opinion plastic is the best, get you pics tomorrow mate.
