dead ive 0
The plate in question is 10mm thick .........It is part of my portable swinging backstop that can have a total combined thickness of 36 mm The holes are made by a .243 at 100yds ..The slash marks are my .223 at 180 yds showing around 2/3mm penetration ........The .243 penetrates 8mm at this distance as indicated by the low single shot on the far right . Ned kelly would'nt have stud a chance :11: Edited August 15, 2006 by dead ive Quote Link to post
Guest Elma Fudd
be careful mate or you'll have the anti scrap metal brigade after you with your wanton slaughtering of 10mm thick plate Quote Link to post

dead ive 0
Bit of overkill for shooting on the golf course though... You don't know me do you Chris Just on every forum you can guarantee a large amount of up and coming shooters wanting to progress from 12 ft Lb to .243 in one easy step ..........Just giving a indication of the difference in power ,nothing more Love to see something go through all 36 mm .......Now I wander what minimum calibre it'll take to do that Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
I fired an unmoderated .243 once. It went off and I sh*t myself! Later, it came back to me that, in a combat situation, I'd be firing something like that at guys who'd be firing something similar back at me. More trousers! Just not to be f***ed about with, are they, guns! Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
good post dead ive!! i just have a .22mag. i have a scrap car parked at about 60 yards for target shooting. im running out of places to aim at on it because its beginning to look like something out of the A team .. but anyway, even at that distance the bullet goes in 1 door and penetrates the padding on the passenger door. just lets u see how dangerous even the wee rifles can be. transfering from an air rifle to a rifle is a big step!!! a greyhound lad i know had his brother shot in the chest whilst working on the main road outside toome near antrim about 2 years ago. they reckon it was a young lad shooting at crows when he missed the bullets were heading down to the road. he was critical for nearly 2 months and the gun and culprit was never found. accident do happen Edited August 16, 2006 by oldskool Quote Link to post
dead ive 0
Was he ok in the end Old Skool Now metal will absorb energy different to flesh and bone .......Only last night My colleague with his .243 shot a 1/2 grown Fox cub that was facing us around 100yds away ..the entry wound was it's chest centre and there was no exit wound as the whole lenght of it's torso absorbed the energy of the ballistic tip round .........had the shot been side on at this distance with a shoulder entry then it's insides would have been blown out Quote Link to post
Guest oldskool
he made a recovery but is no longer able to work! lol,, he is the sort of boy that didnt want to work anyway :11: getting shot was like a god send!! . i used ballistic rounds for the magnum, they were deer but there was quite a difference compared to the usual winchesters i buy. i had screw down the sight on the scope quite a bit to hit the target. plus the ballistics bust through the passenger door as well as the drivers.
