dead ive 0
Went out the other night .........the firing point was a hatch cut out of the roof of a landrover specifically for this purpose making the firing point around 7' off the deck . The rifle in question is a Tikka M595, .223 S/B 8 x 56 and T8 mod being fed a 50 grn hornady v-max homeload which is .5" high at 100 yds and spot on at 200 yds confirmed by a recent outing at Bisely Anyway 7 foxes were shot in total with 5 being retrieved on the night and the others by dog the following day .Only one responded to the call and was taken at 75 yds with the others being taken between 150 -200 yds .The last and his only shot on the night was taken by my shooting buddy and a ping on the RF revealed 225 yds . dead ive 0
awsome stuff mate , they dont stand a chance  Fox control is the easiest out of the lot and with a full bore rifle very little skill is required IMO.However I'll say that can change when you have to get one that's educated and streetwise which in a few weeks time the above were starting to become as they were moving away from the call all the time but not at a stage when they were sprinting away and not looking back at the lamp .I am trying for these elusive corvids especially maggies and would love to get several in one sitting .......Been trying for years now .....Patiance is not a strong point of mine Quote Link to post
FOXHUNTER 5,021
A good night had by all. Foxing can be very easy but it can also be very frustrating at times . Once those foxes have been lamped a few times it can be like a game of cat and mouse. Nothing more satisfying though than outwitting a shy fox Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Know the feeling .Place I do ,we go round on the quad and we can always expect to see a fox in one particular spot every outing in the corner of a field which leads onto the neighbours land which I also have. The fox stands for a second and then retreats through the hedge .Its day will come as there are plans to put in a hunt gate between the 2 farms .At the moment we have to ride down the road to get onto the next patch but if the gate is opened at the start of the night and the shot gun on board we will have it . On the subject of shy foxes it sometimes pays to get someone sqeeking loudly to keep the foxes attention ,whilst another stalks in for a shot .Works for me . Quote Link to post
