jimgt206 108
after reading many varied opinions bought a bisley silencer for my hw77k .it didnt seem much quieter as im shooting it ,but i think most of the noise is twang and recoil, when my mate was shooting it ,icould really tell the difference .not the prettiest thing in the world. but does what itsays on the tin.my pcp mates mite even let me go shootin now. question ..is there any way of tightening the underlever catch?with the pod on it comes undone and hangs .. Phantom 631
Your quite correct about the sound levels, sounds just as loud when fired next to your ear, but downrange theres a hell of a difference Regarding the pod, and I'm sure most will agree, take it off. It does very little for accuracy when shooting a springer. Phantom Quote Link to post

Hi, Good to see some one have a play with a pod & springer, if you want to try & quieten the action, try nylon washers in the piston, so they sit in front of the spring, also place a nylon washer to the rear of the spring at the action, this will absorb some of the spings recoil noise, with the action removed from the stock lay some sticky back foam tape along the stock chanel useing 1" strips, 3 each side of the stock chanel should do, this will absorb a lot of the recoil through the stock & makeing the gun a lot quieter as vibration will not pass through the foam strip like wood to metal will. foxon. Edit to add, place a stronger spring in the underlever release catch, this should keep the weight of the pod pulling the lever down with gravity, the catch is held in by a roll pin that is sprung, unless the dished plate the lock sits in is worn you should be ok. Phantom 631
you are right im pisspoor shot with or without bipod .makes good stand though ! Seriously, unless you do all your shooting from a prone position, they are not a good idea on a springer, but they are ideal on a pcp. I was always a reasonable shot as a kid, but when I actually got to own a springer I figured I would do better resting the rifle on a solid object my accuracy took a very deep nosedive. I went back to shooting normally and it picked up again. I use one on my PCP and it enables me to take much longer shots than I would dare with my springer Like you say they do make good stands, I'm after one of those clip on ones for my springer Phantom Quote Link to post

As for what Foxon says about the sticky back foam tape, I did similar with strips of rubber. Boy did I notice the differance, it was fantastic Foxon offers good advice, now I'm off to try and find some nylon washers Phantom Quote Link to post
jimgt206 108
will have a look al cheers for advice. cant see how to get to spring behind catch . Quote Link to post
foxon 0
will have a look al cheers for advice. cant see how to get to spring behind catch . The catch is retained by a roll pin, this has to be punched out with an engineers pin punch. foxon. Quote Link to post

Before I get shot, if you place nyon shims (washers) inside the piston carrier & at the action end of the main spring be mindful by doing this you could put your gun over the limit, make sure you chrono after you have carried out this work. Many Thanks, foxon. Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Think you may have to buy a new underleaver catch, its one of the few things that wear out on a HW77 Quote Link to post
