the first shot from o/u is the bottom barell anyway,the top barrel can be selected if on first shot game is for example a greater distance than normal where you would select it for a tighter choke hope that makes sense iv been :drink: so i could be talking rubbish lol

Depends what you are shooting. If driven game you would want to use the tighter choked barrel first, followed by the second less tightly choked barrel. If you miss with the first, the bird is closer and so you will want a larger pattern. I dont think you want to be giving a bird a tight choked pattern when its closest to you! Does that make sense?!

yes i agree, i was refering to a bird,or ground game going away rather than coming in Edited by watchman

for clay shooting using the bottom barrel first reduces muzzle flip, but for game il use top barrel first as its easier to reload if only one shot is used,

 

 

A good tip that ... I wouldnt have thought of it.

 

I've just had my fourth try at clay shooting, but hope to shoot game some time soon, using my o/u multi choke game gun.
