leegreen 2,153
Opinel, sharpens easily, doesn't hold an edge well but it doesn't matter too much if you lose it.

MuttleMcTuttle 21
I've had an Opinel pocket knife for about 30yrs, just can't seem to wear the thing up...
fin and fur 2
Any knife with a full tang drop point blade, made of good quality stainless steel will fill my criteria of a hunting knife. Ideal blade length of 3.5-4.0 inches, Gerber Freeman fits the bill at the moment.

bullmastiff 615
Always used Opinel for years, Then my dad bought me a Gerber Gator for my 21st. Great knife with non slip handle, and Razor edge. It's been a briliant knife, unlike a Opinel that has to be sharpened vitually everytime it's used, this has only been sharpened a dozen times in eight years. I also ought myself a cheapish Sheath knife for the tougher jobs ( cutting wood, popping joints etc) it made by Whitby and is again a very good knife for the money. Doesn't get as sharp or stay as sharp as the expencive blades but a good tool for a job.

migmog 1
Does anybody use this handy little bit of kit by Blade Tech ? They cost £10 but it does a very good job if your out and about and need to sharpen your blade. Is only about 2 1/2" long and fits in your pocket nicly.
Guest hyperion
once you sharpen your knife on the wet stone or diamond whats name if you run your thumb nail down the blade it feels quite rough, this is caused by tiny feathers or burrs of metal left over from the sharpening process! as soon as you cut some thing with the knife the little feathers of metal roll over and the knife goes dull/blunt! stropping the knife after sharpening pollishes off the feathers of metal and lets the knife stay sharp longer! if you run your thumb nail down the blade after stropping it should feel very smooth! ill post some youtube links that will show what i mean! cheers hyperion
