Another thing after dismantling the gun. The parts i have found are a spring the bit that goes on the end to hold it in. a plastic sleeve with 3 washers in front of it all encased in a metal casing with a seal on the end of this which is flat. which bits do i polish and where do i definatly not grease etc?

As a Gunsmith, I tend to polish the cylinder & piston carrier, as factory finish is ok but mass produced items are not done by hand, so there is room for improvement, as for lubricaton, silicon should be used where plastic, nylon or polymer type piston seals are fitted, metal components like springs should have a heavy type grease, some Gunsmiths I know use Graphite & Lithium based, trigger sears I use a lightweight machine oil, as I find grease picks up a lot of debris from general use in this area, I use a heavy grease on the jaws of a break barrel makeing sure to lube the axis pin & shims if fitted, the cocking lever should be lubricated at the axis pin & where it meets the piston & along the guide of the cylinder, many gun owners will not agree with the use of silicon as they feel it is to abrasive, but in contact with a polymer to metal surface it is fine, like in the piston area of your rifle, if you use a mineral based oil it will cause dieseling & break down of the polymers after prolonged use.

if i knew what parts the v-mach had i could machine some on the lathe?

Steve Pope of V-Mach, has designed quality performance parts for many air rifles, from internals like PTFE pistons Top Hats, with external items like his triggers, I like his power lock springs personaly.
