waidmann 105 Posted September 7, 2009 Report Share Posted September 7, 2009 probably the best thing to do would be to identify before you shoot( or your mate). if you don't know it, don't kill it.( season included) what if that had been some protected bird? you would be in it up to your neck and rising. any body can make a mistake,try to learn from it. they are tasty wee birds aren't they . atb Quote Link to post Share on other sites
arveyboy 0 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Share Posted September 24, 2009 its a french partridge mate. difference between that and an English partridge is that the french has red/pink legs, more colouring compared to the English, and flies differently to the english. the english partridge also calls in flight whereas the french doesnt. good way to quickly identify the two Quote Link to post Share on other sites
