leedavis 0
as far as i'm concerned i was truthfull on the form! Its up to them to check my file . And what ever my friends do in there own time has nothing to do with me. If they think i'm going to do something stupid with a shotgun why would i bother getting a licence when i could just buy gun if i asked about in the pub [snip]to which i informed her that it seemed to me that the police had no intelligence . Please, think about what I am writing here and don't take it to heart, treat it more as honest advice. I have highlighted some text above. Each line shows flippancy and disregard for anyone other than yourself. Lets face it, you will be judged by the company you keep and if your hanging around with known criminals then what they do in their own time has a lot to do with you, that is if you want to own a shotgun. It matters not what you are concerned with, it matters what the police are concerned with and hanging around in pubs where you can access illegal firearms, hanging around with criminals, you yourself have committed multiple offences and on top of that have the audacity to take the Micky of of the FEO when she called hinting that the police have no intelligence. Either you are blatantly stupid or very casual to your approach to life. I don't know you at all, you could be a grand chap, honest and salt of the earth type, can not say but what I can tell you is that owning a firearm is a great responsibility and being the person to recommend you can own a firearm carries an even greater responsibility. Only you know what is going on in your head, you might well know that you would be safe, law abiding and that there would be no risk at all to the public, sadly for the rest of us, we can only look at what you have done, your previous attitude, criminal behaviour and respect for the law and what you do with your time. In short 'are you a good person and could you be trusted', if there is any doubt at all, then you should not be able to access legal firearms and rightly so. You have a few options, if you want to own legal shotguns. If it means that much to you then you'll be happy to change for what you want. Nothing in life is easy. Continue shooting at the clay club, this shows that you have experience in using shotguns safely. Change your life style, drink in better places and find smarter friends, your current ones are hindering your life. Stay legal and out of trouble, which should be easy with a change of life. If you want to go hunting, take up airgun shooting for a while. Call the FEO, explain that you were very disappointed with her decision which is why you may have seemed a little off hand and ask her advice, try being 100% genuine and honest, you might be surprised and she may well do the same. Good luck, and I hope one day you will get your shotgun. John Really John? do you? do you hope that one day he will get a shotgun???? Ill tell you now I hope he never gets one. This may seem a little harsh but ill set the scene for you.... One friday he's in his local with all his criminal friends, He is pissed out of his skull and gets into yet another serious fight (lets be honest its more than handbags in a circle and a few slaps to be sent down for affray) He then decides to get in his car pissed up and drive home(check allready done that before) for his shotgun, He then returns to the pub to settle the score from earlier and turns his local into the wild wild west! Unfortunatly in this life you are judged by the actions youve done not by what you havnt done! He has just demonstarted a total disregard for the law by saying if he really wanted one he could get one down the pub by ''asking around'' Is this pub in the middle of moss side? and to have ''known associates'' suggests to me that these are not petty criminals but more hardline oraganised criminals he's associating with. The gun laws in this country are tough enough as it is without anymore ''Dunblane'' incidents because remember everytime something bad happens within the gun world we are ALL tarred with the same brush!! This is just my honest opinion! After reading the first post regards this. the sums dont add up as some of you have said, "If you cant do the time then don't do the crime" The police would be stipid to give him one, once bitten twice shy, twice and three time then not a chance. I with you on this one hope he never gets one. It goes to show the kinda people he is hanging round with, if the police are looking at that aswell. i think there is more to this than meets the eye and hes not giving us the full picture. mudmad 0
Ok let me try and clear a few things up. because some people are taking what i'm saying and twisting it to suite there argumentative personality ! when the feo came to visit i wasn't in any way taking the Micky it was merely friendly banter, we had a good chat and as far as i could tell she was sympathetic to the situation, but i think that she or her bosses just wanted it withdrawn because there grounds for refusal are limited, after taking legal advise today i will be appealing the decision in crown court. Affray...... if everyone is so interested in it i will explain what hap pend, the night before my 18th birthday i had drinks at home with a group of friends and at midnight now legally able to go to the pub we went to a club in Birmingham city center, a friend of mine while in the club had an argument with another chap over a girl, the door men calmed the situation and we stayed till the small hours but when we left to go and get a taxi home the lad who was arguing with my friend was waiting round the corner for him with a group of his friends, a fight ensued and everyone was arrested, personally i did nothing but defend myself, however at some point one of the aggressors suffered a fractured skull but not by my hands. this could of happened to any of us if your ever put in thus situation what would you do ?.....let someone kick the sh*t out of you or do you defend yourself ? I made a split second decision and ended up paying the price. He then decides to get in his car pissed up and drive home(check already done that before) actually no i have never done that before i suggest you read what i wrote. As for my previous comment about being able to buy a gun by asking about in the pub i was simply saying that it's not impossible to get a one if you wanted one for illegal reasons, i want a shotgun to go clay shooting maybe twice a month, and for no other reason, i'm quite aware that owning a gun of any kind is a huge responsibility, but as i've said i'm not 18 anymore and ive seen first hand what guns are capable of, when i was released from the young offenders i spent 3 years in Africa as a volunteer with the red cross, so i have seen things that i suspect many of you haven't and probably wouldn't want to see. known Associates...... i do know some people who live in the grey area of the law but they are certainly not criminal masterminds, and i'm sure most of us know someone like this but there not close friends, if i see them out at the weekend i'll buy them a pint and have a chat but that's as far as it goes, they wouldn't come round my house or be invited to my kids birthday parties. anyway i thank most of you for all your honest and balanced opinions and this will be my last post on this because i'm starting to feel like this is getting way off topic, i simply gave a little back ground info and asked two questian's 1) should i fight it or 2) withdraw it but thank you to all that have replied. RicW 67
You have kept your temper bloody well so far bruv. I've seen posts from people in your sort of circumstances who were quite clearly not fit to be let out with a laggy band. Give it another couple of years would be my line. Whatever atb. dave1372 83
/1) should i fight it or 2) withdraw it My opinion is withdraw it, continue your shooting at a clay club, and as suggested previously why not take up some shooting with air rifles and get some permission on some land and most importantly keep you nose clean......as you have done previously why not ask your feo if doing some more volunteer work will build your reputation with the police. Good luck what ever you decide. Quote Link to post
elvolcan 0
Good luck with your application. At the end of the day I will trust the police's decision on whether you're capable to possess a Firearm. At the moment it seems not but maybe in another 10 years or so they will change their mind.
